Creative workers and The Future

In the many decades since the primary task of the education system ceased being the production of competent factory workers, its structure has continued to reflect that function.

There have been changes to the high school scene: the responsibility to cultivate more “well-rounded” humans has moved from clergy-men and women to fitness coaches and art instructors and smiling-but-solemn sex educators. Teachers now are nicer to their students. Corporal punishment became verboten, and bad behavior is dealt with by Ritalin and explorations of wider social factors.
