What I Am Offering In Surrendered Leadership

Leadership is never about telling you what to do, in the sense of how to achieve a result. It is showing you what there is to see. Any instruction must be framed as an experiment, never a sure fire method.

Why?

Because the part of you to whom the words speak doesn’t have that much power. Yes, words may inspire, but have you noticed they rarely do so when they contain an explicit instruction of what to do?

Actions that move the story forward contain a large element of subconscious motivation. That accounts for their efficiency. That is what it means to not wait around. So giving people a 5 step method for success isn’t going to work. It is actually the prescribed method that creates the hesitancy (don’t trust me; experiment with 5 step methods). In self-help parlance, methods are highly disempowering.

I drive the boat and you see the sights. The sights are the contents of your own mind.

To be seen and loved in a state of mind is to have that state change. The mind seems to be intrinsically evolutionary. Which means that authenticity is more a state of continuous discovery rather than a bounded folder of factual statements about yourself. Circling naturally allows that authenticity…
