When we don’t want what we want

An almost universal aspect of desire, at least early in life, depends on not meeting the conditions for its fulfillment.

It is no fun stretching an already loose muscle. Relief from pain is our greatest pleasure.

What then can we do?

Thankfully the architecting of experience has the possibility of inflicting pain benevolently. Jesting and sexual tension are among the examples, and one can be still and welcoming when the projections of the receiver seize the infliction and amplify it.

One can clarify the intention. One can reach out with unconditional love.
